The Brief
Renewal SA commissioned Red Fox Films to create a series of short films—one for each of four local start-up success stories. The challenge was to capture the unique personality of each business, tap into exactly how they had benefited from support, and drum up further interest among the start-up community.
The Concept
We focused on bringing a fresh approach to telling intimate first person narratives by deviating from the corporate nature of formulaic talking heads and cutaways, and instead injecting individual artistic style into each film. We created a series of unconventional interviews, making use of candid framing to give a more conversational feel. Approached as if they were micro documentaries, these films utilised slow motion shots accompanied by a unique editing style and hand-selected music track.
The Result
Both Renewal SA and the four featured businesses received positive community feedback, with Red Fox Films taking out a Gold Award for ‘Osteria Oggi’ in the local 2016 Australian Cinematographers Society Awards, in the category of Advertising - National/International.
